BABY'S FIRST WORK TRIP: DAY 1
Oct. 21st, 2024 11:32 pmIt started to snow as I walked home on Sunday, and by morning, there was a thick blanket of the stuff. Still, I persevered in getting all packed up and ready to go on nary but a couple of long night naps, and one of my managers gave me a lift to the airport while I grilled him on exactly what I would all be paid back for on the other side of the week. Food and cabs, yes; booze and shopping, no. Pretty straightforward.
The plane boarded on time, though de-icing took a while. I have flown more in the last two years than in my entire life prior to that, but I remain extremely anxious whenever doing so.
Got to my pretty chill hotel in good time, and texted one of my four points of contact (and counting!) so she could take me to work, where I was passed off to a series of people until a very nice woman who swears a lot and regrets her children taught me how to book out some basic warranty work order lines. Originally, she told the primary admin there that she'd need me all day tomorrow, too, but I think I picked things up quickly enough that I could move through the chain of training sooner than that? We'll see in the morning, I guess!
My ride back to the hotel went home at four, so it was a pretty short work day; tomorrow should be more of a traditional 8 hours. I relaxed for a while, and then caught a Lyft to the nice VIP theatre where I saw Saturday Night and ate... way too much. It was all so good, though. Good day, despite the snow FOLLOWING ME TO CALGARY.
Really wish I'd been able to watch the big pair of Maple Leaf Pro debut shows before I left, but alas, the wrestling torrent community did not come through in time. Hopefully they'll be waiting for me when I get back, it really sounds like ol' Scott D'Amore is well and back to his old shenanigans!

Okay, day two of training begins in less than seven hours, and I've got a free hotel breakfast with my name on it before that. Time to put on the facade of sleeping for at least a little while.
