Jul. 26th, 2024 05:25 pmSo tired. It has now been two full weeks since my throat started hurting a bit at work. 12 days since it stopped hurting, leaving only the forever cough. It's gone from kinda wet to barking today. Please release me from this collar-up hell, body.
Even when the days are rainy and overcast, being able to walk to work in the daytime still makes all the difference in the world about how it feels, I must admit.
Going in, this year's Blood & Guts felt like a textbook example of why big gimmick match shows like it should happen when a feud actually calls for it and not just every year because it's that time of year again, and then it ended up being the best Blood & Guts match yet done, even with the lackluster build. So I guess there's no moral here! Just lots of big dumb ECW plunder bullshit, excellently paced with tons of fun spots throughout, and while there were no breakout stars like 2.0 two years ago, Hangman and Swerve and their blood feud provided all the heart necessary. Notably, heart was lacking in the ending of the match, when they were busy making out in a hole in the ground in the back! THEY TOOK EACH OTHER TO SUPER HELL DURING PICTURE-IN-PICTURE, COME ON. Like, Matt giving in to save Jack is not a patch on Mox giving in to save Yuta last year, because he didn't do it because he loves Jack (Hangman was the only one breaking his heart this week, obviously), he did it because Darby is just that fucking crazy and he simply did not want to see a man burn to death! Which is pretty valid!!!!
The paperwork alone would be a nightmare.
27. Is Childhood Today Too Risk-Free?
My gut says maybe, but I'm not sure how much of that is just too much exposure to freaks on social media. I think it's not so much about KIDS TODAY needing more risks, because that sounds crazy, but more about them needing more freedom/ability to go out and have a variety of experiences across the spectrum of everyday life than society today makes it easy for them to have. Depending on the parents, of course, some are definitely freaks who are fucking their kids up and need to back off. But those have always been around. But also I don't have kids and never will so what do I know!
