One of my vague hopes at the outset of Covid vaccines becoming a thing was to get into a flu shot habit, since I've never gotten them. It's one of those things I always knew I SHOULD do, I had no real excuses for never doing it beyond 'I never get the flu anyway', I just fucking hate needles. I have a tattoo, and I still find the tiny little Covid pinpricks to be far more painful than that was, but like, I can push through my anxiety for a few minutes for the greater good if I have to. Unfortunately, I think the opposite of my hope will happen! If what I've gone through after every shot now have been 'flu-like symptoms', then I have DEFINITELY never had the flu since I've been able to form memories, this sucks so fuckin' bad, and I will definitely never be able to put myself through anything like it on the regular without a pandemic actively raging. And maybe flu shots aren't as bad as the Covid jabs, that seems likely, but people told me Covid jabs were no big deal and they fuckin' lied*, so that bridge is BURNED, we're talking full River Kwai.
Still, I managed to haul my carcass to work, which is a lot more than I could manage the last time around, so that's something. And at least it's Sunday so I can mostly just... sit here. All the filing I need to haul to the back room is definitely not happening today, though.
Also I was almost denied entry to my grandmother's home because they didn't have a QR scanner and wanted to see my vaccination record that just lists the vaccines out, AKA the one the government has told me not to bother carrying since November, so that was fun!
*I know people weren't lying about this and that everyone's experiences with these things have been wildly different (much like with Covid itself!), I am just being dramatic because I want to curl up and die for the third time in less than a year over this bullshit.
2. What’s the shortest amount of time you’ve ever worked at a job?
Six months! It's a close race between the grocery/liquor shops down the street (quit because I couldn't make the hours work with a baby at home) and Rogers Video (quit because... idk I just didn't want to come in anymore), not sure which one edges out the other in the end. I've always tended to be something of a long-hauler, as evidenced by my still working for the company that eventually ate the very first job I ever had, back when I was 14, despite the garbage pay and total lack of sleep it now costs me for half of my life. I like stability! Looking for jobs is the dirt worst!
