re: Sacrifice
Nov. 22nd, 2024 11:18 pmA good day. Saw Wicked with pretty low expectations and wound up enjoying it quite a lot with the exception of the hideous bright white backlighting plaguing 80% of the film, casting faces in shadow for no good reason and throwing this ugly-ass haze onto everything that only serves to wash out the colours in all of the beautiful sets and costumes, I hated it so fucking much. Someone release a cut that cranks up the saturation by like 50%, maybe that'll help. The choice to split such a front-heavy musical into two movies remains... a choice, but I guess we'll see how they pull it off in a year! As far as this one goes, I never really felt the bloated runtime, especially comparing it to something like West Side Story, where while I liked all the stuff they added in a vacuum, taken as a whole, they mostly just served to completely fuck the pace of the show with a bunch of dead stops. Hopefully it does well enough with its 8 trillion dollar marketing campaign that Hollywood will stop marketing secret musicals for a while.
Unclear whether the turmoil in my tummy right now is due to my period or the unholy combination of Taco Bell, Dairy Queen, and popcorn that I put in it earlier. It might be both. It's probably both. Oog. To run or not to run.
Kenny Omega vs. Gabe Kidd at the Tokyo Dome has a match graphic, it's really happening, my boy's finally coming back!!!!
