re: Favourite Movies Ever
May. 31st, 2024 10:51 amMonth end! I have partaken in my once-every-few-months coffee (whenever it is personally offered to me for free, basically) and am all lightheaded and jittery, let's GO.
Cleared out all my unread emails, so even though I still have about 700 to actually deal with, I'm calling it a win for May!
Just remembered the Friday finale dropped this week after four friggin' years. I should read that when I get home. Do the kids still care about Ed Brubaker? Beats me, I was personally never a fan of his seminal Marvel stuff, but I like his original shit.
Celebrated having to update one of my credit cards last night by spending way too much on the Super Yaki Challengers sweatshirt and a cozy bathrobe, so at least I have stuff to look forward to in June! (July is already covered for anticipation purposes with the Owen finals coming to Calgary once more, MARIAH MAY FOR WOMEN'S TOURNAMENT WINNER LET'S GOOOOOOO. I was thinking Takeshita for the men's, but now that they're just jumping STRAIGHT into Swerve vs. Ospreay like psychos, I'm thinking maybe a returning Hangman so he and Swerve can main event Wembley???? idk idk idk Mariah or bust tho)
14. What Are Your Favorite Movies Ever?
Mulholland Drive! 12 Angry Men! Twelve Monkeys! I have such a love/hate relationship with questions like this, because while everyone loves making a list, when I think about 'forever favs', large swaths of those lists seem permanently frozen in amber containing the things I loved most from ages 14-20 or so. Moulin Rouge! Confessions of a Dangerous Mind! Seven Samurai! Probably because that's when a lot of the personality you'll eventually settle on gets crystallized? 2001: A Space Odyssey! The Brothers Bloom! Sin City! But you don't stop growing, and you don't stop changing, and you don't stop liking new things, or at least I didn't, so obviously any collections of favourites ever will be ever shifting, but at the same time, that feels somehow wrong. The Thing! Donnie Darko! On Her Majesty's Secret Service! Like, I don't love Cube any less just because I've seen Paths of Glory now, you know? Fun! The Defiant Ones! The Thin Red Line! So those mental lists just kinda sit there, forever unchanging, perhaps now inaccurate, but not emotionally. Thirty Two Short Films About Glenn Gould!!!!!!!
