re: Time Zones
May. 18th, 2024 09:01 amI managed to get a sweet ninety-minute nap in yesterday without fucking my night, earning myself $1.50 in SleepBux and thus pushing my bedtime to 1am, which was nice. The usual amount of eepy today. Kinda dreading tomorrow, since my boss seemed to imply that I'd be having to cover reception as well? Which always makes me want to gnaw my wrists open, but mom wants to do a double feature at the local cinematheque afterward, so at least I'll have that to look forward to. I've already seen The Fall Guy since it seemed like TOO perfect a movie not to see it with the stupid moving seats while I was in Vancouver, but it was pretty fun, and I will not be upset at seeing it again.
For both monetary and dietary reasons, I've been really good about not giving in and just ordering delivery every day, as is my usual desired wont, but there's five bucks off of morning orders today, which feels like a sign to grant myself a one-time (HOPEFULLY) reprieve on this cold and rainy (still a good thing! the fire is not moving!) Saturday morn. Come to me, breakfast treats.
One of my neighbours appears to be building a giant barn in their backyard for some reason. I live in a trailer park. Good for them.
10. Would Life Be Better Without Time Zones?
I guess it'd be different? Better feels like a stretch, but honestly, as the world gets increasingly interconnected, it's not a terrible idea, and would simplify so so so many things; people would just have to learn to deal with the day starting at 3am in some parts of the world or whatever. Given that plenty of people have different schedules anyway, what even is the harm? I am officially joining team One Time Zone, end the tyranny of things starting at '8/9 central' that has plagued me all my life (BOTH OF THOSE NUMBERS ARE MEANINGLESS TO ME). And obviously fuck DST, but I figure that goes without saying at this point.
