re: Numbness
Mar. 7th, 2024 10:10 amAnother very cold morning, but the temperature is supposed to climb twenty degrees by the afternoon, so hopefully it's the last one for a while. Six more days of work to vacation. Edge vs. Christian in an I Quit match await me on the other side.
I need to write. It's been too long.
1. Are We Becoming ‘Numb’ to School Shootings?
Oh, we been numb a while now, ain't no becoming about it. Actually, I don't even think numb is the right word, and it's certainly not limited to school shootings; I just don't think that, as a species, we're evolutionarily equipped to adequately deal with a constant onslaught of all the horrible shit happening all around the world at all times and the mechanisms that process it just get... burnt out after a while? Rubbed raw so they stop reliably responding? Certainly things can still get through and really fuck a person up, so yeah, it's not really numbness, we're all just a little broken from dealing with global systems that came about too quickly for us to really adapt properly to, I think!
