[152] The hellfire car club gambit
What an eventful week, gosh! So I wandered downtown to pick up 23 days worth of suitable (read: mostly canned, some instant) groceries to sustain myself until vacation, and I stopped into the car dealership that I've had a standing job offer at along the way to see what the haps were and now I start work on Saturday? SO THAT'S THAT.
I'll only be going in on weekends until I leave, shadowing whoever's working to get a bit of training in and then I'll start properly when I get back in August, yay~ Standard cashier stuff for the most part, although I think my boss wants to get me trained on the computer/ordering stuff eventually, as well. It's a slight pay cut from my last job, but this place actually gives its employees raises and he's promised to put me in for one as soon as he can. Absurdly flexible hours, he basically told me that as long as a few key shifts are covered, I can pretty much come in whenever the hell I want to, and if I ever want extra cash, I can always just pop in and clean cars for a few hours whenever. "It's not technically a full-time position, but you could work seven days a week if you wanted to" was an actual thing that got said. Add to that the fact that I already know most of the people who work there and know the company treats its employees super well (Medical benefits + free gym memberships!) as it's the site of my first-ever job -- back in junior high when it was still a gas station -- and I'm feeling pretty cautiously optimistic about this.
Even if it's going to be pretty hella weird, working in a place again after ten years. You know those wacked-out Christmas parties I go to every year? It's those guys. EVENTFUL, EVENTFUL WEEK.
