[507] I have climbed the highest mountain, I have run through the fields

New year, same old me! Currently at work, very cold and feeling like utter garbage, likely owing to the way I binge-ate twice my body weight in garbage from twelve to five in the morning during Wrestle Kingdom, but we persevere! I will have to go back and rewatch the Jr. Heavyweight match and the Aaron Wolf debut, though, because I did end up dozing a bit in the middle, before Tsuji/Takeshita woke me back up. Getting old sucks! Unless you're Tanahashi, and get to spend an hour on national television having a bunch of young men push you around an arena in a little chariot so you can wave goodbye to every single person there. Can't wait to get home for New Year Dash!!, even if I'm sad about them removing the mystery vortex element this year.

Wikipedia Sez: The Joshua Tree is the fifth studio album by the Irish rock band U2. It was produced by Daniel Lanois and Brian Eno, and was released on 9 March 1987 by Island Records. In contrast to the ambient experimentation of their 1984 album The Unforgettable Fire, for The Joshua Tree the band aimed for a harder-hitting sound within the limitation of conventional song structures. The album is influenced by American and Irish roots music, and through sociopolitically conscious lyrics embellished with spiritual imagery, it contrasts the group's antipathy for the "real America" with their fascination with the "mythical America". The record's theme was inspired by their experiences in the United States, as well as American literature and politics.

Genre: Pop/Rock

Styles: Album Rock, Alternative Pop/Rock, Alternative/Indie Rock, College Rock, Contemporary Pop/Rock, Post-Punk

Release Date: March 9th, 1987

Prior Familiarity: High, at least as far as the big hits go. I'm genuinely shocked that this came out before I was born because of just how ubiquitous this stuff was when I was young, since it did fall off eventually?

What I Did While Listening: Played Pokemon TCG Pocket, mostly. Gotta get those new promos!

Verdict: Maybe a victim of its own ubiquity because idk, it just sounds like U2, it's a'ight.

Favourite Song: Exit
