[471] well you know that it's a shame and a pity you were raised up in the city

No time to chat, I have to pack for the weekend because I'm getting on a bus in the morning to stay at a Holiday Inn 400km away just to watch 10 movies that aren't playing here and then come back home again! THIS IS A FINE AND NORMAL THING FOR A PERSON TO DO AND I STAND BY IT. This is the kind of stupid bullshit that a seven on/seven off work schedule is made for, honestly.

Friday night: The Shrouds
Saturday: Sinners in IMAX (I gotta see that scene on the big screen), Wild at Heart, Lost Highway, Mulholland Dr.
Sunday: Dune (1984), Pink Floyd: Live in Pompeii, Blue Velvet, Eraserhead
Monday afternoon: The Legend of Ochi

I'm so excited, y'all. Nothing but Diet Coke will be flowing through my veins come Tuesday. See y'all on the other side.

Wikipedia Sez: Electric Music for the Mind and Body is Country Joe and the Fish's debut album. Released in May 1967 on the Vanguard label, it was one of the first psychedelic albums to come out of the San Francisco Bay Area. Tracks from the LP, especially "Section 43", "Grace", and "Not So Sweet Martha Lorraine", were played on progressive FM rock stations like KSAN and KMPX in San Francisco, often back-to-back. A version of the song "Love" was performed at the 1969 Woodstock Festival.

Genre: Pop/Rock

Styles: Psychedelic/Garage, Folk-Rock, Country-Rock

Release Date: May 11th, 1967

Prior Familiarity: None.

What I Did While Listening: Just hung out and coloured. It's really good music to procrastinate to.

Verdict: Based solely on the title and presentation, I really thought this was going to suck ass, and then it pleasantly surprised me! Possibly because it actually has some heavy country influences in the psychedelia instead of just peddling in winking, surface-level irony about it like that annoying Quicksilver Messenger Service album. It's still not really my thing, but I found it very easy to appreciate what it was doing for 45 minutes straight, and that's not nothing.

Favourite Song: Sad and Lonely Times
