[460] one little kiss and Felina, goodbye

I'm freeeeeee! Slept amazingly, had a wonderful bath, went for a nice brisk walk to check the mail, caught up on Daredevil, finished reading The Maltese Falcon, am finally watching this year's New Japan Cup (which I am somehow unspoiled for), mom brought me spinach dip for supper, and since my brother finally has a job again, I had the house to myself again all dang day. SO GOOD. Life is wonderful again! For six more days, at least!

I am sad that our theatre is losing Black Bag already, and that I will never in a million years be able to convince my mom to go see the latest generic Jason Statham action movie. God, I wish I lived closer to a movie theatre. Or at least lived somewhere with decent public transportation that could reliably take me across town in less than three hours. I would go every damn day!

Was left decidedly unenthused by the Marvel livestream. I think I would much rather something smaller to actually establish (assemble, if you will) the new Avengers before doing a big EVERYBODY'S IN THIS ONE Endgame-type movie. It took half a decade just to see Shang Chi or Namor again, leaving it at that and maybe a Hiddles return would be so much more exciting than 'also the Thunderbolts and the Fantastic Four (which is significant even though those movies aren't even out yet, I guess??) and a bunch of X-Men you were sick of a decade ago'. Yeah, I dunno. We'll see, I guess!

Wikipedia Sez: Gunfighter Ballads and Trail Songs is the fifth studio album by Marty Robbins, released on the Columbia Records label in September 1959 and peaking at number 6 on the U.S. pop albums chart. It was recorded in a single eight-hour session on April 7, 1959, and was certified Gold by the RIAA in 1965 and Platinum in 1986. It is perhaps best known for Robbins's most successful single, "El Paso," a major hit on both the country and pop music charts, as well as for its opening track, "Big Iron," a song that gained a resurgence in popularity online as an Internet meme after its inclusion in the 2010 video game Fallout: New Vegas.

Genre: Country

Styles: Cowboy, Traditional Country, Country-Pop, Nashville Sound/Countrypolitan

Release Date: September 1959; can't seem to find a precise date.

Prior Familiarity: High.

What I Did While Listening: Broke in my new headphones! It sounded fucking beautiful. Also album #459 will be coming tomorrow because I specifically wanted this to be the first thing I used them for, I'M SO SORRY OUTKAST, I STILL LOVE YOU, TOO.

Verdict: Look, it's not the most highbrow country music out there, I know, it is exactly what it says on the tin, but also it fucking rules. BANGER AFTER BANGER AFTER BANGER.

Favourite Song: El Paso is one of those songs that can actually make me cry if it manages to catch me in just the right mood, and not only because of Breaking Bad.

Leshia's Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Now if you'll excuse me, I need to draw a little New Japan Cup 2025 bracket in my bullet journal.

This album is definitely a banger.
