[442] no more pencils, no more books, no more teachers' dirty looks

Bleh. Mom bailed on going to the movies again, which was pretty much the only thing I was looking forward to in this whole miserable medical waste of a week off, so we just visited my grandmother, watched YouTube for a while, and now I'm in a mood. Maybe some wrestling or video games or a bath or something will snap me out of it. I have options, laundry can wait until tomorrow.

Genre: Pop/Rock

Styles: Hard Rock, Album Rock, Detroit Rock, Art Rock

Release Date: June 13th, 1972

Prior Familiarity: Low, aside from the title track, which, lol duh.

What I Did While Listening: Tried to motivate myself to get up and brush my teeth. Failed. I did it eventually, but oof, the lethargy was strong.

Verdict: Weird album! First of all, I don't think it's talked about enough that there's this classic rock anthem that is clearly written to appeal specifically to people from the ages of about ten to thirteen, and we all just accept that without question. And then it turns out that the rest of the album that follows retains the same sort of goofy, childish tone, but with songs that are also about sex and committing suicide in prison?? Also there's this one track that starts as some strange narrative that read to me as a lost number from Cats, but then it literally just turned into a cover of Jet Song for the last minute????? Which is then reprised in the album's big closing instrumental finale??????????? WEIRD ALBUM.
