[416] is it the pain of the drinking or the Sunday sinking feeling?
The cold snap has broken, and I have spent the last day luxuriating in temperatures above -20 for the first time in some very long days. It wears when there's no reprieve from it! Of course, with the rise in temperature comes a fuckton of snow, and it's been alternating between big clumps and freezy rain, which gave the morning trudge a consistency of... fluffy crunch? Very odd, but not too treacherous, though there are few things more ominous than staring down the headlights of the little sidewalk snowplow coming at you in the dark at 7 in the morning with nowhere to go because it's all piled up too high on the sides.
Had a slightly more productive night than the last couple had been, even if that mostly just means I watched an episode of The Bear and a shitty British short film. I cleaned up a bit and did some yoga too, though! That's something! And tomorrow, my days will be my own again. With Canada Post still on strike, I won't have to leave the house at all until Saturday!
Will probably finish The Brothers Karamazov tonight. It got a lot better once the trial started, but I still can't say I'm particularly fussy for Dostoevsky.

Wikipedia Sez: Raw Like Sushi is the debut studio album by Swedish musician Neneh Cherry, released 5 June 1989 by Virgin Records. The album includes the commercially successful single "Buffalo Stance".
Genre: Pop/Rock
Styles: Pop-Rap, Dance-Pop, Alternative Rap, Club/Dance, Alternative Dance
Release Date: June 5th, 1989
Prior Familiarity: I knew that I knew exactly one Neneh Cherry song, but gun to my head, I could not have told you what it was or where I knew it from. Turns out it was Kisses on the Wind, from Dance Mix '90, the series that would eventually become MuchDance (RIP).
What I Did While Listening: Tidied up a bit, getting increasingly pissed off as my delivery order got lost in the Skip Vortex. Wasted over two hours of my one precious life on a private food taxi that never came.😞
Verdict: It's kinda the apotheosis of a very specific kind of music that simply did not exist beyond the early '90s. It also perfectly illustrates just why it ceased to exist and why it should never exist again, which is not to say that I didn't enjoy listening to it, however? Maybe I'll put on Dance Mix '90 when I get home and really luxuriate in the soundscapes of a lost world.
Favourite Song: Kisses on the Wind, from a combination of prior familiarity and being one of the only songs that didn't have at least one big moment that made me go HUH?????
Leshia's Rating: ⭐⭐⭐
Hey, did y'all know that Eagle-Eye Cherry is a PERSON??? And he's Neneh Cherry's brother???? And they're both Swedish????? Because this information has rocked my world, personally.
