[375] please do not 'stan' me, i know how that song ended

Back at work! I had this brief moment of confusion when my first alarm went off; I genuinely did not understand why I would possibly be waking up so early. Then followed the crushing wave of realization. A good chunk of my morning was spent putting up with the IT guy swapping out my beloved old computer for one capable of running Windows 11, which means the rest of the day will be spent tweaking shit to make it useable. I'm still massively underpaid.

I want to go home and listen to music. Soon I will go home and listen to music.

Wikipedia Sez: The Marshall Mathers LP is the third studio album by the American rapper Eminem, released on May 23, 2000, by Aftermath Entertainment and Interscope Records. The album was produced mostly by Dr. Dre and Eminem, along with the 45 King, the Bass Brothers, and Mel-Man. Recorded over a two-month period in several studios around Detroit, the album features more introspective lyricism, including Eminem's thoughts on his rise from rags to riches, the criticism of his music, and his estrangement from his family and wife. A transgressive work, it incorporates horrorcore and hardcore hip hop, while also featuring satirical songs. The album includes samples or appearances by Dido, RBX, Sticky Fingaz (TV Blade himself!), Bizarre, Snoop Dogg, Xzibit, Nate Dogg, and D12.

Genre: Rap

Styles: Contemporary Rap, Hardcore Rap, Midwest Rap, Pop-Rap

Release Date: May 23rd, 2000

Prior Familiarity: It's quite possibly the single most influential album of my life. I was eleven years old, and my best friend was coming on a summer trip out to our lake lot. A burnt copy of the Marshall Mathers LP was one of the CDs we brought along with my big-ass CD player. Since there were no outlets at the lot, it took 8 D batteries to power it. Much to my mother's consternation, we played this shit pretty nonstop while fishing and quadding and wandering through tall grasses for the long weekend, and I touched on this a bit when I pulled The Slim Shady LP a couple of years ago, but it was a genuine revelation to me.

What I Did While Listening: Wandered about, doing some last-minute chores so as to be ready to head back to work in the morning. Of course, you're never really ready.

Verdict: Impossible to judge.

Yeah, people tell me they stan something or someone and I give them such a look of horror because I know how this song ends.
