[363] come to the ogre site, come to the ogre battle fight

Sitting around, waiting for the painkillers to kick in, quietly willing the sun not to set. It'll listen for a few more hours, at least. Skipped my usual sunbathing in favour of water bathing since my period is starting, and then mom came home with pizza to stave off the frustration of waiting on doctors. Biopsy and scan results are in, but it'll still be another twenty days before she gets a lousy phone appointment with an oncologist to discuss options. She got a call at the last minute from her coordinator, though, who said that since it looks like a recurrence of the previous cancer in her lymph node and not something fresh, they'll probably just skip straight to surgery this time? Fingers fuckin' crossed.

For now, though, waiting. Come on, drugs, do your thing. I may need to find more.

Visiting my grandmother and then seeing MaXXXine tomorrow. Until then!

Wikipedia Sez: Queen II is the second studio album by the British rock band Queen. It was released on 8 March 1974 by EMI Records in the UK and Elektra Records in the US. It was recorded at Trident Studios and Langham 1 Studios, London, in August 1973 with co-producers Roy Thomas Baker and Robin Geoffrey Cable, and engineered by Mike Stone. It is significant for being the first album to contain elements of the band's signature sound of multi-layered overdubs, vocal harmonies, and varied musical styles.

Genre: Pop/Rock

Styles: Album Rock, Art Rock, Contemporary Pop/Rock, Glam Rock, Hard Rock, Arena Rock

Release Date: March 8th, 1974

Prior Familiarity: Pretty low, actually. For such an iconic cover image, this one really doesn't have any big hits on it, huh?

What I Did While Listening: Gently whiled away a hot, hot Friday afternoon.

Verdict: It's pretty immediately clear why this is not one of their better-known albums, but despite the emphasis on goblins and shit, it never feels like lesser Queen at any point? Really good shit.

Favourite Song: Gonna say The March of the Black Queen because of how crazy the instrumentation really goes in that one, but it's a hard album to split into constituent parts. Very much one to get high and listen to in its entirety on vinyl.
