[345] this isn't the first time I've asked for money or love
The rainiest summer continues apace. It is chilly and gray and my infuriating family still insists on cranking the goddamn AC all the time. I'm so tired and the week isn't even half over. Inside Out 2 tonight? Maybe? We shall see.
Had a great supper and watched an episode of the cool gay vampire show whose abbreviation I do not agree with and also a depressing short film and had a nice bath with the wax burner really bumping things up to the next level and hopefully that will all sustain me for a few days longer.
Until then, it's trying not to fall asleep sitting at my desk and thinking about what I want to do for lunch. PEACE!!!!!

Wikipedia Sez: Stories from the City, Stories from the Sea is the fifth studio album by the English singer-songwriter PJ Harvey, released on 23 October 2000 by Island Records. Recorded during March to April 2000, it contains themes of love that are tied into Harvey's affection for New York City. The album became the second major commercial success of her recording career, following her successful breakthrough To Bring You My Love (1995). Upon its release, the album received acclaim from most music critics and earned Harvey several accolades, including the 2001 Mercury Prize. It spent 17 weeks on the UK Albums Chart, and has been certified Platinum in the United Kingdom and Australia. It is generally regarded as one of her best works.
Genre: Pop/Rock
Styles: Adult Alternative Pop/Rock, Alternative Pop/Rock, Alternative/Indie Rock
Release Date: October 23rd, 2000
Prior Familiarity: Low! This is the second PJ Harvey album on the list, which seems weird to me, is she really that big a deal?? But I also apparently didn't even know who she was beforehand, so that's probably on me. And I guess that first one I didn't care for was technically the band.
What I Did While Listening: Made perogies! Which is a more time-consuming process than I'm usually willing to commit to after work, but this week is really killing me and I needed something to buoy my spirits. They ended up being so, so good, even if I burnt the roof of my mouth a bit.
Verdict: I liked it! At best, it's very 'music for RP playlists (complimentary)' and at worst it's still very listenable, even if I don't know that I'll ever feel an urge to revisit it. Just a good album! Would have liked more actual stories from either city or sea, though.
Favourite Song: We Float, though the one where Thom Yorke just shows up to make random Thom Yorke noises in the background was fun.
