[335] from morning until twilight, I don't know I'm alive

Feeling a little logy today and am still bleeding a lot, so it's probably for the best that my mom pushed going to visit my grandmother off until tomorrow. We're still going to see Civil War in a couple of hours, though, so hopefully that'll snap me out of this mild weekend funk.

Wikipedia Sez: The Electric Prunes, sometimes referred to as I Had Too Much to Dream (Last Night), is the 1967 debut album by the American garage rock band, the Electric Prunes, released on Reprise Records. The first track, "I Had Too Much to Dream (Last Night)", was a hit and became the band's signature tune. The album also contains another notable psychedelic rock composition, "Get Me to the World on Time". The album was listed in the book 1001 Albums You Must Hear Before You Die.

Genre: Pop/Rock

Styles: Garage Rock, Psychedelic/Garage

Release Date: February 1967

Prior Familiarity: None.

What I Did While Listening: Started an episode of The Walk! This album's under half an hour long, though, so I followed it up by digging into the backlog of KEXP podcasts a bit, to start soothing my sadness at them killing the Song of the Day after all these years. I think I went for too long, my legs are REAL stiff today, hopefully I can still run a bit later.

Verdict: Never really grabbed me, honestly! Mostly it's not bad (ending it on that genuinely dreadful ironic Toonerville Trolley track was a miserable choice, though), just some decent jangly garage rock jams. That signature tune of theirs that opened it was corny as hell, though. Very much 'we are young and high and this is the cleverest thing we will ever come up with'.
