[332] yes, my love, I take my coffee in the morning

Vacation missive #...7, I think? Yes, that sounds right.

Tuesday was spent wandering all around the city without much of an aim! Went up in a really high building to see everything, went through a holy door (the only one on the continent!), went on a boat ride, climbed some more bullshit 'oh I'm gonna actually die' hills, and saw Love Lies Bleeding for a third time, but this time in French, so it totally doesn't count, it's fine, I can stop whenever I want. As a result, my knee is fucking KILLING me today, but I'll be spending Thursday making the Quebec--Windsor corridor my bitch one last time, and then there's not really anything to see in London, so I can probably take it pretty easy in my fancy hotel until the end of the month.

Spent the last day mostly inside until it was time to head out for Dynamite, just reading and watching some Stardom and finishing off the last of my Cinnamon Toast Crunch. The show was fantastic (Ospreay/Shibata and Swerve/Takeshita were both chef's kiss, and if Okada interferes in the Bucks/Best Friends match next week with all the history there, I may explode), and then I even ended up hanging out with some cute nerdy guy from New Brunswick afterwards. He gave me a lift back to my place, we just drove around Old Quebec for a little while, and I came very close to asking him to come back up to my room for a split second before remembering that I had to be up to catch a train in like six hours and that that wasn't really my style, anyway.

Wikipedia Sez: Eli and the Thirteenth Confession is the second album by New York City-born singer, songwriter, and pianist Laura Nyro, released in 1968.

Genre: Pop/Rock

Styles: Singer/Songwriter, Soft Rock, AM Pop

Release Date: March 13th, 1968

Prior Familiarity: None whatsoever. Look at that cover, I was fucking astounded when I saw that this album is almost fifty years old, I genuinely assumed she was some current chanteuse I hadn't heard of when I first pulled it.

What I Did While Listening: Hobbled around my hotel room making breakfast and doing some preliminary tidying up since I was leaving the next morning. Pointedly refused to shower and get dressed until after noon, though.

Verdict: Just some really lovely jazz vocals. Might need to give it another spin sometime to better appreciate the songwriting, though, since a lot of it just sounded like stupid nonsense at first blush?

Favourite Song: Either Eli's Comin' or December's Boudoir, tough call.

The coffee has been made, the last of the toaster strudels are toasting, it's very dark and foggy outside, and I have about an hour before I need to set off to go DOWN all those big, fuck-off hills one last time and spend the day on trains and return to the city of my birth for one last show to close out this loop. Let's go.

Update 18 hours later, because my dodgy Quebecois internet was not cooperating enough to actually post in the morning: Woo, London!
