[329] we come from the land of the ice and snow

Vacation Missive #4! To be posted whenever the internet in my cozy little room wants to work again; it's very difficult to connect to, but at least once you manage, it's good? I'm all settled in for my week in Québec (look at me, not calling it Québec City to try and stay undercover among the Francophones), where it is feeling decidedly more wintry than it has anywhere else on this trip. Lots of snow, bitter winds, but at least the sun is shining.

My knee remains fucked, but thankfully not in a way that's really holding me back at all? Just a twinge of pain when I put weight on it or bend it in certain ways. It mostly just scares me, like what did I do, tear my fucking meniscus or something? I'mma be really sad if I still can't run when I get home.

Dynamite and Rampage in Toronto were life-changingly fantastic, and I saw the image of me from December cross my Twitter timeline multiple times as a reaction image for the I Quit match, which should say everything about how old and gay and great it was. Public CBT for everyone, but mostly for Christian! Also, god, Swerve wearing his Hangman gear and carrying a chain around his neck to strangle people EVEN WITH HANGMAN GONE, THEY ARE TURNING INTO EACH OTHER AND IT'S SO FUCKED UP AND I'M OBSESSED.

Going over all of my movie-watching options for the week, since I don't really know where to even start here and that seems like a fun way to hit up as many different parts of the city as I can, and the fact that a little arthouse theatre within walking distance of my room is playing Stop Making Sense on the night I leave is honestly almost as devastating as missing Mystery Wrestling 7 was.

Wikipedia Sez: Led Zeppelin III is the third studio album by the English rock band Led Zeppelin, released on 5 October 1970. It was recorded in three locations. Much of the work was done at Headley Grange, a country house, using the Rolling Stones Mobile Studio. Additional sessions were held at Island Studios and Olympic Studios in London. As with the prior album, the band eschewed the use of guest musicians, with all music performed by band members Robert Plant (vocals), Jimmy Page (guitars), John Paul Jones (bass, keyboards), and John Bonham (drums). The range of instruments played by the band was greatly enhanced on this album, with Jones especially emerging as a talented multi-instrumentalist, playing a wide range of keyboard and stringed instruments, including various synthesizers, mandolin and double bass, in addition to his usual bass guitar. As with prior albums, Page served as producer on the album, with mixing done by Andy Johns and Terry Manning.

Genre: Pop/Rock, Blues

Styles: Album Rock, Arena Rock, Blues-Rock, British Blues, British Metal, Hard Rock, Heavy Metal, Regional Blues, British Folk-Rock

Release Date: October 5th, 1970

Prior Familiarity: Okay!

What I Did While Listening: I believe this was my Dynamite pre-gaming hype music? Toronto is all honestly a bit of a blur. I definitely made and ate a fuckton of pasta.

Verdict: It's pretty good! Classic rock vibes that never completely lose this weird, moody, almost creepy sort of edge? You know what? I think I'm gonna listen to it again right now while I eat some cereal, so there!

Favourite Song: I want to say anything other than Immigrant Song, because that seems so cliche in a way that really undersells the rest of the album, but god, it just starts things off with such a great bang. Or yell.
