[310] 'cause darling, I'm a nightmare dressed like a daydream
Mom's not feeling great, so instead of visiting my grandmother, I'll just pop in to bring her her laundry and groceries and whatnot; we're still on for an Argylle matinee, though. It means I got up early for nothing, but I was at least able to get my nails done because of it, so it wasn't a total waste.

Wikipedia Sez: 1989 is the fifth studio album by the American singer-songwriter Taylor Swift, released on October 27, 2014, by Big Machine Records. Inspired by 1980s synth-pop, Swift conceived 1989 to recalibrate her artistry to pop after critics disputed her status as a country musician when she released the cross-genre Red (2012) to country radio. She titled 1989 after her birth year as a symbolic artistic rebirth and enlisted Max Martin, who produced Red's electronic-influenced pop tracks, as co-executive producer.
Genre: Pop/Rock
Styles: Dance-Pop, Pop, Adult Contemporary, Teen Pop
Release Date: October 27th, 2014
Prior Familiarity: High. This shit was pretty inescapable.
What I Did While Listening: Split the deluxe edition across a couple of short runs; felt a little icky not going with Taylor's Version, but felt that would have gone against the spirit of the project, and it's definitely just for the one play anyway.
Verdict: Man, I don't get it. Decently catchy in places, generic filler in others, painfully corny throughout. It's definitely not awful, and some of them were really solid running tunes that I may keep around, but yeah, I just... don't get the fixation. That opening paragraph on Wikipedia actually made me recoil a bit because man, I like '80s synth-pop SO much more than this.
Favourite Song: Out of the Woods, but I Wish You Would is the song that made me go 'oh, if more of them sounded as interesting as this, I would probably like this more'.
