Goddamn it, saved by your shitty ring once again!
The unknown power of the ring flashes a warning through your mind, telling you that the old man is an illusion projected by a fearsome Shape Changer. You dash out of the cell and slam the door shut just as the beast starts to metamorphose. Green spikes burst through its clothing and its slavering jaws open to reveal rows of razor-sharp teeth. The Shape Changer is trapped in the prison cell and you can now try to open the wooden door.
No amount of tugging at the handle is going to open the door.
