[252] well we were just another band out of Boston
LAST DAY. Waking up was difficult, but I'm now less than nine hours away from my week of freedom, so we are keeping our spirits up! I should make plans!
I managed to write a little over 1500 words over the course of the week, which is not a lot and I am definitely not gonna be ready to do Nanowrimo or anything again anytime soon, but it's a start! It's more than I've written for months! I shall continue plugging away, even if my elaborate Notion databases are stagnating a bit.
Anyway, I don't usually listen to new albums on my work weeks unless I'm way behind, which I am not, but I got two really short ones in a row, so let's go!

Wikipedia Sez: Boston is the debut studio album by American rock band Boston, released on August 25, 1976, by Epic Records. It was produced by Tom Scholz and John Boylan. A multi-instrumentalist and engineer who had been involved in the Boston music scene since the late 1960s, Scholz started to write and record demos in his apartment basement with singer Brad Delp, but received numerous rejections from major record labels. The demo tape fell into the hands of CBS-owned Epic, who signed the band in 1975.
Genre: Pop/Rock
Styles: Album Rock, Arena Rock, Contemporary Pop/Rock, Hard Rock
Release Date: August 25th, 1976
Prior Familiarity: One of those albums where you go "Do I know any of these songs?" and then you actually put it on and go "Oh, I know all of these songs."
What I Did While Listening: Another quick Zombies, Run! mission, wherein I got deep in my feelings about the de Luca siblings THEY BOTH DESERVE THE WORLD, OKAY??? PROBABLY JUST GONNA GET MORE TRAUMA, THOUGH. And then I learned something brand new and fascinating about myself, which is that I... fucking love Boston????
Verdict: I LOVE THIS SO MUCH, WTF. BANGER AFTER BANGER. Boston is a band I have thought about for maybe thirty seconds total in my entire life, probably mostly in the context of learning trivia, and while I was definitely familiar with most of these songs, it was only in the 'they're ubiquitous' sort of way where they just become part of the background noise of planet Earth and I have never actually sat and listened to them before because BANGER AFTER BANGER, SERIOUSLY. Just the perfect blend of that bluesy sort of rock sound I associate with all those classic dad bands and noodly jazz influence and sweeping power pop bullshit??? BOSTON, MAN. WHAT THE FUCK.
Favourite Song: SO hard to call. More Than a Feeling was obviously the big single for a reason, but Foreplay is straight up just Final Fantasy battle music and it RULES.
Anyway, I am three albums away from one that fully made me gasp out loud when it came up because it's such a formative favourite of mine, so that's exciting!
