[246] see me go through changes, revelations to blank pages

This suuuuuuuuuuucks. Work sucks, and work when I should, by all rights, be at home fucking around sucks even more. Also this other shift is a fucking clown show, but at least I am well rested enough to not be completely miserable, as is my usual sleep-deprived baseline at work. Two more hours and then I can go home and chill for a bit and then go see a big stupid shark movie!

Wikipedia Sez: Tellin' Stories is the fifth album by the British rock band the Charlatans, released on 21 April 1997 through Beggars Banquet Records. After wrapping up touring in support of their 1995 self-titled fourth album in early 1996, vocalist Tim Burgess and guitarist Mark Collins went to a cottage near lake Windermere to write material. Shortly after this, they did a test recording session at Rockfield in Rockfield, Monmouthshire, before main sessions were underway from Easter 1996 at the nearby Monnow Valley Studio with the band, engineer Dave Charles and engineer Ric Peet acting as producers. Partway through recording, keyboardist Rob Collins was involved in a fatal car crash. The band drafted in Martin Duffy of Primal Scream to help finish it, concluding in early 1997. Tellin' Stories is a Britpop, hip hop soul and rock album that had been compared to the work of Patti Smith and Neil Young.

Genre: Pop/Rock

Styles: Alternative Pop/Rock, Alternative/Indie Rock, British Trad Rock, Britpop

Release Date: April 21st, 1997

Prior Familiarity: None.

What I Did While Listening: Queued up my next few albums to listen to in my Notion library and generally just kinda futzed around, thinking about what a SUCKER I am, agreeing to work on a couple of my precious days off.

Verdict: At its worst, it's just kinda boring, and at its best, it's some pretty fun and engaging slices of pop and/or rock. Definitely a worthwhile listen.

Favourite Song: With No Shoes, or maaaaaaybe Get On It.

Also, FUCKING FINALLY, JESUS CHRIST. I do like that there was no big reveal, just an acknowledgment of 'yeah, everyone knows it's you, you stupid asshole', but I do once again feel like the characters in this thing are a lot more forgiving of people than I personally am. SURE, YOU'VE GOT A NEW NAME AND FACE, WE CAN TOTALLY IGNORE THE PREVIOUS BETRAYAL AND THE FACT THAT YOU REFUSE TO EVEN TALK ABOUT ANY OF IT, IT'S FIIIIIIIIINE
