[242] the return of the thin white duke

IT'S GON' RAIN. I'm really crossing my fingers for some solid thunderstorm action, there's that dark sort of vibe in the air, but remember I said that when I'm whining about the inevitable power outage that would in all likelihood ensue.

It's August! We made it! My big summer sojourn is officially well in the rearview, and I can settle in for the lazy hazy crazy days as they grow steadily shorter. I can definitely use some routine outside of work for a while.

Family is back from Vancouver, and it sounds like mom had a really good time just doing nothing for a change, which she definitely needed.

Wikipedia Sez: Station to Station is the tenth studio album by English musician David Bowie, released on 23 January 1976 through RCA Records. Regarded as one of his most significant works, the album was the vehicle for Bowie's performance persona the Thin White Duke. Co-produced by Bowie and Harry Maslin, Station to Station was mainly recorded at Cherokee Studios in Los Angeles, California, in late 1975, after Bowie completed shooting the film The Man Who Fell to Earth; the cover art featured a still from the film. During the sessions, Bowie was dependent on drugs, especially cocaine, and later said that he recalled almost nothing of the production.

Genre: Pop/Rock

Styles: Album Rock, Art Rock, Contemporary Pop/Rock, Experimental Rock, Blue-Eyed Soul, Dance-Rock, Proto-Punk

Release Date: January 23rd, 1976

Prior Familiarity: I think just Golden Years, somehow??

What I Did While Listening: Some boring old late-night inbox clearing, which was in fact extremely satisfying to me. Is opening a hundred tabs really that much more organized than having a bunch of old emails kicking around? Probably not, but it still makes things just that much more manageable for me.

Verdict: FINALLY, SOME GOOD FUCKING FOOD

Favourite Song: Word on a Wing, gimme some of that coke-addled spiritual despair, babyyyyyy

I can't wait to get home and stay up all night watching wrestling with nothing looming over me in the morning y'all!!!!
