[213] I miss them, yet I want them gone

It took me a full five hours to catch up on all the scanning I've been neglecting all week in favour of travel planning, which means it's almost lunch! Hooray! Almost halfway through the day! And then the week will be DONE, having Monday off is always such a special treat. Had family lunch down with my grandmother, my mom cried over her birthday cards some more, went home and had an incredible two-hour nap, it was a good day off in spite of the fact that I was unable to breathe for about 36 hours.

Wikipedia Sez: Protection is the second studio album by English electronic music group Massive Attack, released on 26 September 1994 by Wild Bunch Records and Circa. DJ Mad Professor remixed the album in 1995 under the name No Protection.

Genre: Electronic

Styles: Alternative Dance, Alternative Pop/Rock, Club/Dance, Electronica, Trip-Hop

Release Date: September 26th, 1994

Prior Familiarity: None! I think I've conflated them with a lot of different bands over the years.

What I Did While Listening: Tried to do some journaling, but mostly just found myself utterly suffering and pacing my bedroom from my sinuses going completely haywire. They've been bad for a few days now (all this smoke probably isn't helping), but this was next level awful.

Verdict: It's very smooth, largely pleasant, but a little boring to my ears in spite of the diversity of sounds? Everything just settles into easy grooves for far too long when I'd rather be kept guessing. I think I wanted something a little crunchier.

Favourite Song: That neat fakeout ending on Sly heading into Heat Miser with its... idk, Halloween homage? Was extremely cool.

Okay, back to the grind. SIX MORE HOURS.

I was obsessed with Mezzanine in college and bought a bunch of Massive Attacks other albums, and was completely underwhelmed by all of them. They're fine?
