[181] where the voices ring like bells in french-canadian

Okay, so that was the roughest work week I can remember having in a while, but I made it! And apparently need to put some real effort into getting enough sleep on my week off I guess, so that it doesn't happen again, because I will definitely not survive otherwise! Ugh, there's just so much I need to do, though.

Dealing with some ongoing frustrating shit with regards to mom's care. It weighs, but not as much as it does on her, so I will continue to do my best.

Wikipedia Sez: The Last of the True Believers is the fourth studio album by American singer-songwriter Nanci Griffith, released in 1986 by Philo Records. The acclaim accorded her from her previous album, Once in a Very Blue Moon, and this album earned her a contract with a major recording company. Here, Griffith continued her turn toward a more country-oriented work than her first two albums, which were primarily folk-sounding. It also includes two songs which were later hits for Kathy Mattea, "Love at the Five and Dime" from Walk the Way the Wind Blows (1986) and "Goin' Gone", her first number one, from Untasted Honey (1987).

Genre: Country, Folk

Styles: Contemporary Country, Country-Folk

Prior Familiarity: None.

What I Did While Listening: Coloured a particularly involved picture of some candy.

Verdict: This is exactly the sort of country music that was pretty ubiquitous when I was growing up, that I never particularly cared for, and that I've really gained an appreciation for as time has gone on. Just wraps around me like a warm blanket, upbeat yet heartfelt.

Favourite Song: Goin' Gone

The temperature is slowly creeping upwards again after a brief sojourn through -40 degree territory. It's supposed to be above freezing again by Tuesday. THIS ISN'T NORMAL. Okay, back to seeing what I can tick off the ol' to-do without unduly draining my batteries while I'm still supposed to be in recharge mode.
