[162] I know that we should take a walk, but you're such a fast walker
PHEW. So Thursday was a bit of a wash since I needed a big two-hour nap in the middle of the afternoon to finish patching over my work week sleep deficit, but today I finally buckled down and knocked out a handful of things around the house that have been looming over me for a couple of weeks now, really bringing down my sense of self-worth. Onto the weekend!
My brother has given up on college after three months and will be coming back home as he just couldn't hack it. With how difficult it was to get him to graduate high school, I can't say I'm particularly surprised, but obviously I wasn't gonna say anything like that before he flaked out, I wanted to be supportive. Nor am I gonna rag on him now, though, since obviously I can't be one to judge, having not even done as much as he has myself, so. If he's still here when he turns 18 in a couple of months and he isn't in school, though, I WILL be asking for rent.
I might need to. Because AEW's coming back to Canada lol fuck SOMEONE HELP ME BUDGET THIS, MY FAMILY IS DYING. We'll see how the sales go next week, but uh, I maaaaaaay be spending a couple of days in Winnipeg come March! We'll see!

Wikipedia Sez: Being There is the second studio album by the American alternative rock band Wilco, released on October 29, 1996, by Reprise Records. Despite its release as a double album, Being There was sold at a single album price as a result of a deal between lead singer Jeff Tweedy and the band's label Reprise Records. The album was an improvement for the band in both sales and critical reception, in contrast to their debut album A.M. (1995). Taking its name from the 1979 film of the same name, the self-produced album featured more surrealistic and introspective writing than on A.M. This was due in part to several significant changes in Tweedy's life, including the birth of his first child. Musically, it juxtaposed the alternative country styles songs reminiscent of Uncle Tupelo with psychedelic, surreal songs. It was the only Wilco album with steel guitarist Bob Egan, their first with multi-instrumentalist Jay Bennett and their last with multi-instrumentalist Max Johnston.
Genre: Pop/Rock
Styles: Adult Alternative Pop/Rock, Alternative Country-Rock, Alternative Pop/Rock, Alternative/Indie Rock
Prior Familiarity: No!
What I Did While Listening: Made perogies, and then I paused the album to eat the perogies and didn't get back to it until late at night, when I just played with cards mostly.
Verdict: It's very... whiny? Whiny. It's one of the whiniest goddamn things I've ever heard. Which is a bit of a shame, because when it's NOT being whiny, it's doing some cool things with instrumentation and composition and style and genre that I am VERY into, but then it just starts whining again and I tune out. When it rocks, it rocks! The movie they named it after is not whiny at all! It's actively anti-whiny! Why'd they do that! ALTHOUGH I actually listened to it again while I cleaned the house today and was much better able to pick out the bits I really dug, so maybe it's just an album that doesn't really hold up to close listening, or maybe I just need to sit with it for a bit???
Favourite Song: Monday. MAYBE Dream in My Dreams, it ends on a real solid note.
Think it's gonna be my mom's boss' homemade bread for supper for me tonight! Belt tightening mode is BACK ON FOR THE WINTER.
