re: skipping class, non-fiction, and leisure activities
I'm so goddamn tired today, but we're in the home stretch. Just two more days of this, and then I can SLEEP. For one day before heading back down to Edmonton for chemo, but MAN THAT ONE DAY'S GONNA BE SO GOOD.
I could see my breath on the walk to work this morning, and the light was of a decidedly more golden hue than usual. The sun's going down earlier every day. Summer is ending and I'm SAD ABOUT IT. Hopefully my last set off will have some nice days I can spend baking on the deck before vacation.
26. Did you ever skip class when you were in school?
lol all the goddamn time. Usually because I was sleeping in, but also fuck social studies. By the end when I was truly checked out, sometimes I would wake up on time, come in for concert band, GO HOME, and then come back in the afternoon for jazz band.
27. What was the last non-fiction book you read?
Ummm.... does the D&D Monster Manual count? Maybe it's not real, but it's reference, right? (I've recently managed to recapture the part of myself that was a weird kid who loved to pore through video game instruction manuals for hours on end, and that same brain totally applies to tabletop sourcebooks, apparently!) If you want to be a stickler, digging into my reading logs (now very beautifully laid out in Notion) gives me the Unfuck Your Habitat book in May of 2019. I'm a fiction person, what can I say?
28. What kinds of leisure activities did your family do together when you were growing up?
I think we mostly just went camping? And since I didn't have the internet at home to prove more interesting yet, I was usually pretty into it! Fishing with my grandfather, quadding with the cousins, sleepovers with my bestie in the station wagon, getting into all manner of scrapes down at the lakefront. I have negative desires to actually go camping now, but I'd love to relive going camping then, you know?
I want noodles. :(
