Double or Nothing 2022 (1 of 13)
It's Monday, my week off is almost over, and my ear's still killing me. Ugh, I can't go back to work like this, idk what to doooooo. For now... I will order myself a burrito. Maybe my mom will have ideas when she gets home.
13. Have you ever put money in a mobile app game?
Regularly! idk, I don't go nuts and generally limit myself to one dumb phone game that I'll pay to play at any given time, but throwing a few bucks at fleeting, frivolous things here and there is something I've always done. It's the grown-up equivalent of putting a dollar into a ride at the mall, you know?
ANYWAY, I kept meaning to rewatch Double or Nothing and revisit it all in the cold, sober light of day, but I haven't been able to work up the strength (it's a lot and also like five hours long), so instead of mainlining it, I think I will just rewatch a match a day in the lead up to Forbidden Door! Countdown starts now!
I simply cannot get over how quickly these two idiots have taken over my heart. HOOKHAUSEN IS A LOVE STORY AND YOU CAN'T TELL ME OTHERWISE. On paper they're a perfect comedy duo, the goofy gimmick character and the cool, badass straight man, they work on the 'veteran paired with a rookie' level, and crowds go nuts for them because they both got turned into memes long before they crossed paths, so pairing them makes a ton of sense, but the actual execution has been SO much more delightful (and gay) than I ever could have imagined. They're just a JOY, seeing Hook slowly come out of his angry murder teen shell for this weirdo and this weirdo ALONE is just... it's wonderful. They're perfect, and so was this match, just a turbo shot of serotonin to start the night with, from Danhausen styling his hair like Hook's ridiculous anime mop, to Hook happily giving Danhausen the pin at the end (in his first-ever tag match, it's worth noting). Was also nice to finally get to see what Danhausen can actually do in-ring after so long; yeah he mostly just points and curses people, but also he can hurricanrana your ass if the situation calls for it! But Hook would definitely still love him, even if he couldn't~
REST OF THE SHOW? WHAT REST OF THE SHOW, THIS WAS THE MAIN EVENT, WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT.
Also here is a very excellent take on exactly what kind of a demon/human hybrid Danhausen is that I have immediately internalized as canon.
Okay, that and the burrito helped my mood substantially!!
