[0039] farewell to my other side

Back to the grind, and honestly, after the holidays, it's kind of a relief. Except for the part where my face has to hurt to get here. But at least that's just like, ten minutes of the day, and the rest of it is just paperwork and car keys, and I never have to puzzle or fret about what to do about those (well, sometimes things get weird and complicated because people are bad at THEIR jobs and I have issues, but they are issues I don't actually care about and get paid to solve, so they're not so bad). I would still rather be retired, though. Anyway!

lol look at these guys

Wikipedia Sez: The Band is the second studio album by the Band, released on September 22, 1969. It is also known as The Brown Album. According to Rob Bowman's liner notes for the 2000 reissue, The Band has been viewed as a concept album, with the songs focusing on people, places and traditions associated with an older version of Americana. Thus, the songs on this album draw on historic themes for "The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down", "King Harvest (Has Surely Come)" and "Jawbone" (which was composed in the unusual 6/4 time signature).

Prior Familiarity: Slim to nil! I am a bad Canadian. Up On Cripple Creek made me go 'oh, THIS song', though!

What I Did While Listening: A bit of light journaling, just repetitive setup stuff since I quickly realized I wanted to pay real attention to this thing.

Verdict: WELL THIS FUCKING OWNS. The whole thing made me really wish I already knew it by heart so that I could sing along, like. It was a physical urge.

Favourite Song: Across the Great Divide, although with different instruments, Whispering Pines could just be a Flaming Lips song and that realization gave me chills.
