[0031] the titanic sails at dawn

Hmm, I have not updated since getting off work and my week off is already half over! Gonna blame it on the weather immediately warming up by like twenty degrees the instant I got off work Tuesday night. It's all for me, all for Leshia, and I am busy enjoying it.

Wikipedia Sez: Highway 61 Revisited is the sixth studio album by American singer-songwriter Bob Dylan, released on August 30, 1965 by Columbia Records. Having until then recorded mostly acoustic music, Dylan used rock musicians as his backing band on every track of the album, except for the closing track, the 11-minute ballad "Desolation Row". Critics have focused on the innovative way Dylan combined driving, blues-based music with the subtlety of poetry to create songs that captured the political and cultural chaos of contemporary America. Author Michael Gray has argued that, in an important sense, the 1960s "started" with this album.

Prior Familiarity: Fairly high. Never listened to it straight through, a couple of the tracks were new to me, but this is pretty firmly within my prior frame of reference.

What I Did While Listening: Friday afternoon house cleaning, sigh. Why am I the only one here who doesn't want to live in a dump?

Verdict: I feel like I'm in a definite minority in finding that some of Dylan's lyrics/poetry veer into tryhard/cringe territory, and there are a few examples of that in here, but for the most part, it's a fuckin' classic for a reason. Lots of them, even!

Favourite Song: Desolation Row

Okay, gonna finish watching the Final Battle preshow (RIP ROH) and then go see a nice late movie!
