[0013/0014] we walk through the woods
Last day off. Torn between knocking off my few remaining tasks and my few remaining Jean Harlow movies. Dare I hope for both??
The weather remains suspiciously lovely for this time of year, just a little frosty in the mornings with plenty of sun in the afternoons to clear it all up. It's gone sooner and sooner, though. I gotta make sure to get the mail before six, this'll be the last time I get to see it for myself until my next shift is over.
Anyway, I somehow pulled two R.E.M. albums in a row???
Wikipedia Sez: Murmur is the debut studio album by American alternative rock band R.E.M., released on April 12, 1983 by I.R.S. Records. Murmur drew critical acclaim upon its release for its unusual sound, defined by lead singer Michael Stipe's cryptic lyrics, guitarist Peter Buck's jangly guitar style, and bass guitarist Mike Mills' melodic basslines.
Prior Familiarity: None! I went through a bit of an R.E.M. phase in high school, but I think it mostly stemmed from how much I liked the Weird Al song 'Frank's 2000" TV' when I was a kid and it was hardly in-depth.
What I Did While Listening: So much cleaning to do. So, so much.
Verdict: Yeah, so I think that high school R.E.M. phase might be back, I really liked this a LOT.
Favourite Song: Perfect Circle is my first instinct, but pretty much this whole album hit for me.
Wikipedia Sez: Document is the fifth studio album by American rock band R.E.M., released on August 31, 1987, by I.R.S. Records. It was the first album by the band to be produced by Scott Litt.
Prior Familiarity: Fair! Much more overlap with the stuff I was knew here.
What I Did While Listening: Yup, more cleaning! Since I'm the only one in the house who tries and it never ends!
Verdict: Extremely my shit, viva la REMnaissance. Very fun to go from album #1 straight to album #5 and see what was all different and what wasn't.
Favourite Song: The One I Love is kind of a gimme. Hey people, stop playing it at your weddings, though, it's a very unromantic song!
