Dynamite (05.05.2021)

In MUCH less pain today, thankfully. Still feel bad, but I'm much more functional, I REALLY should not have gone to work yesterday, but ha ha capitalism!

My brother is eligible to book an appointment starting Monday, so that's cool! Then everyone in the household will have gotten our first shots!

Wrestling time! Have reached the stage in the PPV cycle where I'm mostly just thinking about how everything is going to tie into Double or Nothing, now.

Kenny Omega and Michael Nakazawa vs. Jon Moxley and Eddie Kingston: An enjoyable opener with no big surprises. My two perfect rowdy husbands were perfect rowdy husbands, Kenny left Nak to die because he is a hollow shell of a man and then the Bucks came out for the post-match beatdown somehow looking doUCHIER THAN EVER. NICK HAD A FUCKING SEPTUM PIERCING. MATT WORE PUKA SHELLS AND TOOK OFF HIS SHOES. I'M DYING, SQUIRTLE. Still thinking it's going to be Bucks vs. MoxKing at DoN, and maybe that'll be when they finally drop this HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE ACT.

Cody Rhodes vs. QT Marshall: I am going to choose to believe that the content warning ahead of the episode was due to QT showing his butt and not the gratuitous violence of the main event. A good match! How is QT so much more interesting than Cody these days??? CODY HAVE AN INTERESTING CHARACTER AGAIN CHALLENGE 2021 CONTINUES. Too bad he won and then immediately died.

And then my favourite judgy Disneyland gays showed up and I hate how much I love them, since surely they would be better served as single guys right now? Scorpio quoted the Riddler and Ethan chucked Darby down some concrete steps in one of the most horrific spots in an episode that included A BLOOD AND GUTS MATCH. With some of the shit Darby does, it seriously feels like his goal is to die onscreen eventually. Anyway, Scorpio and Ethan vs. Darby and Sting at DoN maybe?? And then maybe they can turn on each other and break up.

The Random Britt Baker Squash Match: Because they seriously had absolutely nothing for the women to do this week, smh. At least it's always nice to see an adorable fresh-faced wrestle baby get the chance to be on TV. Also, Britt is finally officially facing Shida at Double or Nothing, so that's one prediction to cross off my list!

They brought back the segment where Taz breaks down wrestlers' moves! Yay! Even if it was mostly just a promo on Christian this time around, lawl. I'm still thinking maybe it'll be Cage and Page vs. Team Taz at DoN? Since Hangman's out of the title picture for one more PPV, but he'll still need to stay in the spotlight ahead of All Out? WE SHALL SEE.

SCU vs. Jurassic Express vs. Varsity Blonds vs. The Acclaimed: Kind of a 'fuck you' to SCU to just throw in a free-for-all for a title shot, considering they've already been the #1 contenders for months, huh? I guess that's kind of the point, though, being #1 means being able to protect that top spot against all comers, and since all of their winning streak has been in dark matches, they needed a strong showing on TV to really establish their position ahead of their long-due title match. One week until they break up. :( And then maybe they can fight each other at DoN before CD retires from in-ring stuff??

Absolutely wild to see a full video package hyping up Moxley's IWGP title reign ahead of his match against Nagata next week, I love that wrestling is a multiverse now!

Nice to see Kenny finally rocking in with all four belts, he hasn't brought the AAA one out since winning the Impact title. Still not sure who he'll be facing at DoN, it could really go either way! Orange would be a nice fresh matchup instead of a rematch, but with the Best Friends/Death Triangle feud still much more of a going concern, idk how it'll play out! We'll see next week I guess!

MIRO VS. DARBY NEXT WEEK, C'MON BIG SCARY BULGARIAN MAN I BELIEVE IN YOU. Darby getting murdered by Ethan this week is a PERFECT way to protect him even if he loses the belt, while also giving him something to do without it! Let's fucking go!!!

The Inner Circle vs. The Pinnacle in a WarGames Blood & Guts match: Iiiiiiiiiit's fine! There was a moment where Wardlow entered the cage (looking v. good in white I might add) and squared off against Sammy, Santana, and Ortiz that was just for me personally, because those are the only four guys involved that I care about! Anyway, it's really easy to forget, as I sit on my little couch and eat Cheez-Its, just how much work doing this for forty minutes straight has got to be, so mad respect to all the guys involved, particularly Sammy and Dax for starting it out, goddamn. They fought and bled and got all fucked up for my entertainment, and even if it wasn't quite as flashy or dramatic as it maybe could have been throughout, that's worth a lot. Trying VERY hard not to compare it to the Blood & Guts match in my head that never happened (Young Bucks crawling all over that cage, Hangman buckshot lariating over TWO rings, c'mon man), but I just don't care about this feud and the match wasn't outstanding ENOUGH to overcome that, unfortunately. Santana and Ortiz busting out the face paint again made me happy. There were a few really cool spots. And aside from the camera angle making the final bump look very dorky, the ending was perfect, basically MJF and Jericho acting out Mufasa's death from the Lion King (Sammy was Simba). Hopefully that ending is what finally splits the Inner Circle apart, since them all being ready and willing to do what it takes was such a big deal going into it, and throwing in the towel on someone's behalf is big MJF energy. The only parts of this whole thing that I hope keep going are FTR vs. PnP and maaaaaaaybe Sammy vs. Spears, which definitely means we'll be getting MJF/Jericho and Wardlow/Hager rematches, lol.

Next week: PAC vs. Orange! Bucks vs. SCU! Miro vs. Darby! Mox vs. Blue Justice! STACKED FUCKING CARD.
