[369] sleep with one eye open, gripping your pillow tight

Off work! Crashed for about twelve straight hours last night as the thunderstorms rolled in, and woke up to clear skies and the temperature once again north of 30 degrees, to keep me from getting too nostalgic for last Wednesday, when I was wandering around scorching Stampede grounds ahead of wrestling history right about now.

Now I am simply nostalgic for when I could breathe! I was feeling a little better when I first woke up, but now my throat has gone back to being completely coated in phlegm and I can't stop hacking and choking and it's pretty much hell! Gonna mainline a 12-pack of diet root beer and see what happens while I bask in the sun.

Dynamite 250 tonight. Maybe a walk, too, depending on the state of my sinuses.

Wikipedia Sez: Metallica (commonly known as The Black Album) is the fifth studio album by American heavy metal band Metallica. It was released on August 12, 1991, by Elektra Records. Recording sessions took place at One on One Recording Studios in Los Angeles over an eight-month span that frequently found Metallica at odds with their new producer Bob Rock. The album marked a change in the band's music from the thrash metal style of their previous four albums to a slower, heavier, and more refined sound.

Genre: August 12th, 1991

Styles: Pop/Rock

Release Date: Heavy Metal, Speed/Thrash Metal, Hard Rock

Prior Familiarity: Okay! High enough to know Enter Sandman backwards and forwards, low enough to still be surprised when a track opened with them playing America from West Side Story.

What I Did While Listening: Resisted falling asleep very early with some rawk. I gave in shortly afterward.

Verdict: Pretty good, even if every single track is exactly two minutes too long. Good jug-jugga-jug-jugga-jugs and meedly-meedly-meedlies. I usually find the obligatory slow/sensitive number in these old rock albums to be mega cringy, but Nothing Else Matters comes in at just the right moment and hits crazy hard here, I gotta say.
