[359] we saw a farmhouse burning down in the middle of nowhere

Happy Canada Day! Most countries are seeming like increasingly terrifying places to be and this one's no exception, but I got the day off work, so yeah, I'm feeling patriotic as hell for a few more hours!

I... didn't actually do anything. I wanted to go to the movies, but mom wasn't feeling up to it after heading out to go be one of the six people to see our town's depressing little parade. So I just stayed in and watched some stuff, including Don't Look Now before it leaves the Criterion Channel again this month, since today's clearly the day to pay tribute to departed Canadian icons~

And also living ones! A perfect album to pull next, really:

Wikipedia Sez: Hejira is the eighth studio album by Canadian singer-songwriter Joni Mitchell, released in 1976 on Asylum Records. Its material was written during a period of frequent travel in late 1975 and early 1976, and reflects Mitchell's experiences on the road during that time. It is characterized by lyrically dense, sprawling songs and musical backing by several jazz-oriented instrumentalists, most prominently fretless bass player Jaco Pastorius, guitarist Larry Carlton, and drummer John Guerin.

Genre: Pop/Rock, Jazz

Styles: Jazz-Rock, Singer/Songwriter, Folk Jazz

Release Date: November 12th, 1976

Prior Familiarity: I am a good Canadian, which means I have been wondering why the old man was named Furry for my entire life.

What I Did While Listening: Enjoyed the post-PPV buzz.

Verdict: It's good, but it also sounds exactly like every single other Joni Mitchell album I've ever heard, so it didn't really stand out to me? Consistency's a killer, and I liked the first two of hers from this list better.

Favourite Song: Coyote

One more day of work, then I'm off for NINE. Grant me strength. I'm going to go take a bath.
