Mom's out of surgery, and she says things went pretty smoothly! She mostly just had complaints about how long everything took? We won't know much more than that until she meets with the surgeon again in two weeks to discuss what he all found in there and what sort of ~m~a~r~g~i~n~s~ he could get, but for now, we're back to chilling. And wound care. Ick.

Wikipedia Sez: Autobahn is the fourth studio album by German electronic music band Kraftwerk, released in November 1974 by Philips Records. The album marked several personnel changes in the band, which was initially a duo consisting of Florian Schneider and Ralf Hütter; later, the group added Klaus Röder on guitar and flute, and Wolfgang Flür on percussion. The album also completed the group's transition from the experimental krautrock style of their earlier work to an electronic pop sound consisting mostly of synthesizers and drum machines. Recording started at the group's own Kling Klang facility, but was predominantly made at Conny Plank's studio. Autobahn also includes lyrics and a new look for the group that was suggested by Emil Schult, an associate of Schneider and Hütter.
Genre: Electronic, Avant-Garde, Pop/Rock
Styles: Experimental Electronic, Kraut Rock, Club/Dance
Prior Familiarity: Pretty good! This is actually one that I've already listened to in its entirety within recent memory (the last few years I guess?), though I don't remember why. Maybe somebody plugged it into a newsletter I was reading or something?
What I Did While Listening: Ahaha, soooooo I was so tightly strung after working for four hours while my mom was in surgery 400km away that I asked if I could just... take an extra long lunch break to go home and reset? And everyone was very sweet and understanding and accommodating, and the bosses found someone to come cover the shift for a solid four hours, and I went home and watched the Nagoya Stardom show from Sunday and ate a burrito and snuggled with Bub and listened to this album and coloured and talked to my mom once she was out of recovery and came back to work feeling MUCH better as a result!
Verdict: It's neat! Sounds very ahead of its time, even if I have trouble imagining myself ever wanting to sit down and just put it on. Even though I have now done exactly that twice over??? idk maybe I actually love it???
Favourite Song: Probably Morgenspaziergang, but that 20+ minute title track, while again, nothing I'm gonna be putting on any playlists any time soon, is kind of a masterpiece??? The perfect sonic equivalent of going on a long car ride, with all the good and bad that entails.
