[0042] did you stand beside the spectral torch?

Yesterday ended up being something of a wash, I lost a lot of hours in ways that didn't feel like wastes, but didn't contribute much of anything, either. First, I just passed the fuck out outta nowhere in the early afternoon for a multi-hour nap despite getting a solid night of sleep, and then my mom needed me to entertain her to keep her awake until nine o'clock so she could go pick my brother up from work because his car wouldn't start again (this cold snap has been BRUTALLY long and is really starting to strain at the limits of what even our society is prepared to deal with, free us from this forty below purgatory already). And now it is the night and I am just kinda vibing, unsure what to do with it.

Hmm.

6. Which of your relatives do you know the least about?

My father, I guess? Don't even know that guy's name!

Wikipedia Sez: Tarkus is the second studio album by English progressive rock band Emerson, Lake & Palmer, released in June 1971 on Island Records. Following their 1970 European tour, the group returned to Advision Studios in London, in January 1971, to prepare material for a follow-up. Side one has the seven-part "Tarkus", with a collection of shorter tracks on side two.

Prior Familiarity: lol no

What I Did While Listening: Tried to put together a habit tracker that I like in Notion so I can start moving away from my horrible mess of repeating Todoist tasks for really basic stuff. Haven't cracked it yet.

Verdict: Man, I don't fucking know. Parts of it are kinda fun to listen to, neat noodly rhythms and whatnot, but it's also fucking nonsense supposedly about an armadillo tank that is born in a volcano and fights a manticore and turns into an aquatic version of itself in the end. The entire ethos of prog rock just seems to be 'what if pretentious music... was really stupid, too?' And the less said about side two, the better.

Favourite Song: I'm not 100% sure where the various movements begin and end, but I wanna say... The Battlefield?
